Matt Ragogna is entering his fourth year as the Niagara Rapids Technical Director as well as his second season as the head coach for the Brock Men’s Volleyball team. Previously serving as an assistant coach for two years with the men’s program, he originally played and served as team captain during the 2016-17 inaugural season. Ragogna was an Academic All Canadian and won the Dale Iwanoczko Award for Leadership in community, athletics, and academics.
Ragogna completed his Sport Management degree (2015) at Brock followed by his master’s degree is in Sport Coaching (2017). Included with his master’s research, he was published in the International Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology for his research on sport coaches and cognitive self-evaluation practices.
He currently holds his High Performance Certification (Level 3) with the NCCP and has coached with the Rapids for the past eight seasons across all age groups.
Matt has coached with the High Performance Team Ontario Program over the past few seasons. In 2017, he was an assistant coach for Team Ontario Red; followed up by a Head Coaching appearance for the program in 2018. Matt is currently the Assistant Coach for the Team Ontario Program that will be representing and competing at the 2021 Canada Games. Additionally, Matt is integrated in the Ontario Volleyball Community through presentations, online webinars, and coach development opportunities. His job with Rapids entails working with both coach and athlete development while overseeing the high performance teams in the club.
