Frequently Asked Travel Team Questions

1. What is involved in a travel team season?

• The travel team season starts with tryouts in September
• Teams will begin practice in late September/Early October
• Season Ends in April with the Ontario Provincial Championships

2. Who can tryout?

Rapids has teams starting at 12u (grade 6) up to 18u (grade 12).

3. Do I need experience to tryout?

There are multiple teams in each age division to account for skill level, playing experience and athleticism.

4. How many practices a week for a travel team?

High-Performance teams will practice 3 times a week (outside of high school season) Competitive teams will practice 2 times a week

4. How are the games played?
There are 4 tournaments per age group during the course of the season
Teams compete against each other in these one-day tournaments
Younger teams – the tournament location is generally geographic
Older teams – the tournaments are tiered based on results – locations are more widespread

6. Location of Tournaments

The OVA will post the location of the tournaments.
The Rapids will host 10-12 tournaments annually in Niagara so that teams have an opportunity to play locally.
