Jenn Kelly
Coach Jenn is a wealth of knowledge and skill in the volleyball community both near and far. Selected to coach again with Team Ontario Red this summer through OVA, which includes the 2024 Canada Cup to be held in Calgary, Alberta as well previously coaching with Team Ontario Regional Program for the past 2 summers. Past coaching experience also includes many years with Rapids as well as Brock University Assistant Coach- Men’s Volleyball Program and Niagara College Assistant Coach- Women’s Volleyball Program.

Dave Pritchard
Coach Dave has coached with Rapids for the past 8 years. He has coached for both boys and girls side bringing a ton of knowledge/skill development and aiding in the success of each team – he brings a positive spin with a competitive edge to the gym. Cannot wait to see the impact he has with the TNT team.

Sara Kovac
Coach Sarah has a long-standing history with both playing professional volleyball and coaching. She has coached with Eden High School VB and Rapids in addition to playing in the Slovenia First League and Division 1 – Loyola Marymount University Indoor and Beach.

Steve McCallum
Steve is an accomplished and experienced volleyball coach and is entering his 11th year as a Rapids coach. Steve is also a certified OVA referee. Steve is also a certified OVA referee. Along with Coach Madi, they will provide strong leadership while developing volleyball, athletic and life skills for their players.

Paul Bush
Paul Bush is an experienced volleyball coach with the Niagara Rapids and previously at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School. His playing experience includes the high school and college levels, as well as recreationally. He is also a father, with his oldest two girls now playing volleyball as well. Always coaching with a focus on holistic player development and collaboration, he is looking forward to an excellent season with the Rapids!

Power is back in action and cannot wait to get started back up in the Fall! This team is going to continue to do great things and we can’t wait to cheer them all along the entire season!! Announcing our 16U Cyclone girls competitive team for the 2024/25 season; Head Coach Jeremy Maffei and Assistant Coach TBD. Coach Jer: He has been coaching competitive sports for more than 6 years. He comes from a football background but volleyball has captured his heart. He has been coaching club Volleyball with the Rapids for the past 2 years with the 14U and 15U girls teams. Jeremy is a student of the game and has made immense strides in his knowledge in just two short years. Coach Jer is an incredibly positive coach. The culture on his team is always upbeat and very energetic. Coach Jer has been very successful in developing core skills and confidence in new athletes.

Coach Mike: Mike is an enthusiastic volleyball coach with a year of dedicated experience in the sport. Known for his passion and commitment to coaching, Mike brings a fresh perspective and a drive for excellence to every team he mentors. Mike’s coaching journey began with a strong foundation in various sports, having previously coached basketball and soccer teams at the various levels. His background in coaching other sports has equipped him with a diverse skill set and a deep understanding of athlete development. Throughout his coaching career, Mike has focused on creating a supportive and motivating environment where athletes can thrive both on and off the court. He believes in the power of teamwork, discipline, and continuous improvement, instilling these values in his players through personalized training sessions and strategic game plans.

Announcing our 15U Extreme girls Competitive Team for the 2024/25 season; Head Coach Tim Konkle along with Assistant Coach Jessica Konkle. Tim Konkle: We are delighted to welcome back Tim Konkle as the 15u Rapids EXTREME Head Coach!! Tim is a respected figure and familiar face within our club and around the sport after many successful years as a competitive player, coach, and former referee. Known for his fun, positive, and energetic demeanor, Tim excels at identifying and cultivating new talent into high performance athletes. His players learn to: set goals, self-motivate, form sustainable training habits, improve technique / court IQ, and use “positive” language to build trust and confidence. So, psych up and get ready to push even farther this season! Let’s go Extreme!

Coach Jessica is excited to enter her 2nd year of coaching with Niagara Rapids! She is a high-performance athlete herself, having competed for 4 years with Niagara Rapids & E.L. Crossley Secondary School (earning ‘Top 5’ Provincial & National Rankings, 4x SOSSA Finalist, OFSAA Gold Medalist). Jessica is looking forward to working with a group of fun & talented athletes, as well as getting to coach with her dad, Coach Tim! Cannot wait to see what team Extreme accomplishes this season!!

Bill Goertz
Entering his 10th year as a Rapids coach, we are very excited to watch Riptide soar under Bills leadership. Coach Bill has been a competitive player since youth (still playing slopitch today-won silver at nationals) and then as his children entered sports he began coaching their teams. He assisted at the start of Baleys Rapids career (U12 year of 2015-16) and then has been head coach since 2016. He’s won gold, silver and bronze at both provincial and national levels. Highest ranking was 11th in Ontario and have too many medals to count 🙂 Bill has coached the team in the USA as well, attending many tournaments in NY, OH, PA and MI. The greatest tournament was attending the Southern California big event at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, NV in 2020. (Month before covid) Cannot wait to get started with my Assistant Coaches Baley and Keifer this season!!

Baley Goertz
Coach Baley played for Rapids for 8 years, and also played for Eden High School during her time there. She also played beach volleyball through the OVA for a few years. In 18u, she was the setter for her team that ended up 10th at the Ontario Championships. Baley has really enjoyed working with the athletes that they have coached the past two years and looks forward to the season ahead!

Coach Keifer joins the Riptide family this season and comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Coming to us with 6 years of Rapids playing experience, playing both setter and libero. We are excited to have her coaching this season!!

Amanda Pokolic
Announcing our 15U Storm girls Competitive team for the 2024/25 season, Head Coach Amanda Pokolic with Assistant Coach TBD! Coach Amanda has been teaching and coaching at the elementary level for 18 years. She has a passion for teaching and this is evident in her coaching philosophy. Amanda creates an environment where her athletes feel confident in their abilities, connected to their teammates and coaches, willing to accept criticism and make changes, and challenged to become the best version of themselves. She has grown as a coach over her 2 years of coaching Rapids girls, has worked closely with several experienced volleyball coaches, and puts in the time and effort to learn the best ways to encourage growth, learning, and performance. In the 2023-2024 season, her 14U team started in the Trillium division and quickly moved to Championship, eventually ranking in the top 64 teams to secure a spot in Division 2 for Ontario Championships, while acquiring a gold, silver, and bronze medal along the way. Amanda is ready to take the competition by STORM! Cannot wait to see what Storm has yet to accomplish!!

John Petrecca
Announcing our 15U Momentum girls competitive team for the 24/25 season; Head Coach John Petrecca. The love of the game has allowed me to play throughout my school years and still actively play today in multiple leagues as an all round player but mainly as a setter. This is my third season with the Rapids from parent to assistant coach and now head coach. I will be focusing on serve receive, passing, defence and striving for court awareness. Looking forward to committing my efforts for the athletes to be able to achieve their maximum growth and goals.

Announcing our 15U Swift girls Competitive team for the 2024/25 season; Head Coach Al Van Dkye and Assistant Coach TBD. Coach Al: Volleyball for me was a first passion in school sports – competed at a high level throughout including two SOSSA titles at AN Myer, and one OFSSA top 8 finish, Captaining 4 years in my tenure. I played one year of varsity at Humber College and have since continued to play competitively for many years. I coached for Rapids last season and it gives me great pride and excitement to give back to a sport I love and help young players develop, compete at a high level, and foster a winning approach to teamwork. I’m really looking forward to a dynamic season and we cannot wait to get back in the gym with these talented athletes. See you at tryouts!!

Norbert Kuebeck
Announcing our 14U Hurricanes girls Competitive team; Head Coach Norbert Kuebeck alongside Assistant Coach Corbin Ouwendyk This awesome coaching pair is back for another season and we could not be happier about it!! Cannot wait to see all of the success their talented team achieves this season! Coach Norbert has been coaching volleyball for over 30 years. Most notably at Eden High School from 1998-2006 where he was the Junior Boys and Senior Girls coach winning many Zone and SOSSA championships. Norbert is a Brock Volleyball Alumni having played there from 1989-1992. He has been coaching with the Rapids for two years and himself along side Coach Corbin brings a coaching duo that is unmatched. They will work with athletes to develop sound fundamentals, court awareness and a willingness to play tenacious defence. An appreciation for the love of the game and having competitive fun is also emphasized! Go Hurricanes!

Scott Wier
Announcing our 14U Summit girls Competitive Team for the 2024/25 season; Head Coach Scott Wier and Assistant Coach Tari Wier. Coach Scott: This will be my 10th year as a coach with the Rapids and I have coached 2 teams all the way from 14u to 18U. Our goal is to create a culture of fun, competitiveness, work ethic and development We are excited to start a new chapter with the 14U and cant wait to see what these athletes can do! 14U Summit are going to absolutely LOVE being coached by this dynamic duo coaching team!! Can’t wait to follow their success.

Tari comes with 10 years of experience coaching with Rapids as well. She is looking forward to meeting this new group of athletes!!! There is nothing she loves more than coaching young females to be the best on and off the court. Tari’s favourite part will be watching them grow and come together as a team over the course of the next few years

Shannon Passero
Announcing our 14U Rebels girls Competitive Team for the 2024/25 season, Head Coach Shannon Passero, Assistant Coach Gabby Mckinnon and Assistant Coach Mario Cywinski! Coach Shannon Passero: Shannon played volleyball throughout high school, achieving a Bronze medal at OFSAA. Coach Shannon is multi talented and played Women’s Fastball, making it to the Canadian Championships. She continued her fastball career playing at the NCAA level. Shannon is an 18 year elementary teacher where she has been involved in coaching for many years. She has always been involved with community sports and coaching girls athletics. This is her 2nd year with the Rapids. Last season saw the Rebels girls bring home a silver medal at OVA’s. Shannon is looking forward to progressing and working with the 2024/2025 Rebels team.

Gabby Mckinnon
Coach Gabriella McKinnon: Born and raised in Fort Erie as an athlete from a young age through high school playing travel soccer and volleyball as the captain. Have recently graduated from teacher’s college with multiple coaching opportunities with volleyball and other sports. This is my first year with the Rapids and am super excited to get involved with coaching alongside Shannon whom I have coached with this past year in school athletics.

Mario Cywinski
Coach Mario is moving into the assistant coach position for the upcoming season, after being the team manager and practice coach for the Rebels last season. He has past coaching experience in soccer, softball, and other sports. He has also played hockey, baseball, soccer, and of course volleyball. Mario’s coaching philosophy is improvement through education and fun, every player has the potential to be great, and the coach needs to work with each player to help them reach their full potential. He has always enjoyed volleyball, but after his daughter joined the Rapids U13 team last season, he wanted to get more involved with the organization.

Megan Cowan
Announcing our 13U Splash girls Competitive team for the 2024/25 season, Head Coach Megan Cowan and Assistant Coach TBD. Coach Megan: This will be my second year coaching with Niagara Rapids, I was the Assistant Coach to the 14u Tornados last year. I played rep volleyball in Oakville for 7 years and have been coaching and refereeing indoor and beach volleyball for 6 years. Right now, I’m studying to be a teach at Brock University. I’m really excited to keep coaching for Rapids, especially running the House League and the 13u girl’s team! Go Splash!!

Announcing our 13U Rumble girls Competitive team for the 2024/25 season; Head Coach Matt Lyon. Coach Matty: Born and raised in Niagara (St. Catharines). I joined Niagara Rapids last season as a 12U Team Manager & 15U Assistant Coach. Quickly fell in love with Volleyball and excited to bring my love and passion for sports to the Volleyball Court. A bit about me: Competitive Fastpitch background having played Ball all over Canada and the US for several Teams throughout the Province. (Notable Accolades: 2X Canadian Junior National Champion & 2X Senior Men’s Nationals All Star 3rd Baseman) Competitive, Energetic, Passionate & Caring individual and a huge fan of being part of a team; I couldn’t be more excited to continue to develop these athletes and watch them grow and compete in a sport we love. Announcing our 13U All-Stars girls Competitive team for the 2024/25 season; Head Coach Hope Nicholson and Assistant Coach Mia Nicholson. Hope Nicholson: I will be the head coach for the 13u girls All-Stars volleyball team. I began my volleyball journey at Niagara Rapids when I was 10 and absolutely loved the atmosphere and continued my volleyball career into college where I played two years at Niagara College. I am so excited to take on this team and continue my volleyball journey through coaching!

I am 23 years old and a former Niagara Rapids player. I am beyond excited to be taking on a team with Niagara Rapids Volleyball Club, especially with my sister Hope Nicholson. Rapids has always had a special place in our hearts and we are beyond excited to be taking on the coaching roles and inputting everything this club has instilled in us over so many years.

Justin Allcock
Announcing our 12U Wild Competitive girls team for the 2024/25 season, Head Coach Justin Allcock and Assistant Coach Ashleigh Vink. Justin is a dedicated volleyball coach and player with a rich background in the sport. He earned a scholarship to play at a Division I school in the United States and played at Keyano College in Alberta. With a teaching degree, he combines his educational expertise with his passion for volleyball. Justin has successfully coached the Rapids to victory in past seasons, demonstrating his effective coaching skills and commitment to developing players.
