What is Niagara Rapids Club Volleyball?
The Rapids Club program (often referred to as “travel” or “rep”) provides opportunities for youth at all levels of experience to further their skill development and benefit from the experience of playing on a team. We are the largest youth volleyball club in Ontario, with 28 teams (girls and boys), 321 athletes and 56 coaches. This is important only because it allows so many athletes to participate.
A club season extends from September to April and includes twice-weekly practices. We practice in gyms throughout the Niagara region.
Games are played in a one-day tournament-style format against other teams in the province. There are four OVA tournaments in a season, plus a three-day Provincial Championship. Coaches are encouraged to attend additional tournaments and schedule scrimmages for the growth and development of their athletes. Here is a link to the OVA indoor competition calendar.
You can expect our coaching staff to be fully engaged in both technical skill development and character development. Rapids coaches are exceptional role models and passionate advocates who will hold high standards for their athletes. The opportunities for growth and development through club sports are limitless, and the benefits extend far beyond the reach of a volleyball court. The athletes in our program are immersed in a safe and nurturing environment that promotes the acquisition of life skills that will contribute to their success and fulfillment on and off the court.
